Abstract
Starting materials for iron-nickel alloys are briefly discussed. Meteoric iron, bog ore or rock ore are possibilities, and the availability of nickel-bearing rock ore in prehistoric Sweden is considered. Iron-nickel alloys could not have been made using local sources, since the only possible material (weathered garnierite ore) does not occur in Sweden. See 18-734. -- AATA
