Abstract
In general, the impregnite compositions of the invention comprise a wax, a gum and an oil. When the compositions are to be issued to field forces, a volatile solvent may be included to provide a material which can be applied to shoes and leather without heating. As examples of waxes that may be used are paraffin, beeswax, stearic acid, carnauba wax, candelilla wax, lanolin, Carbowax, Opal Wax, and Glyco Wax B. Examples of gums are Amberol, Bakelite Resin and Paraplex B. Examples of oils are Neats's foot, castor oil and linseed oil. Paraffin proved to be the best wax. Ester gum proved to be the best gum. Neat's foot oil was chosen for use (when available). The composition is as follows, Ester gum 40 parts by weight, Neat's foot oil 20 parts by weight, crystalline paraffin wax 20-30 parts by weight, and amorphous paraffin wax 10-20 parts by weight. Trade name products are briefly described.
