Abstract
Author summarizes the main developments which have led over the past 50 years (1900 to 1950) to present day concepts of the structure of the collagen fibril, and indicates the significance of these developments for the leather chemist and the tanner. For a detailed assessment of the current status of the problem of collagen structure he suggests: R. S. Bear, Advances in Protein Chemistry, Vol. VII, 69-160, Academic Press, Inc., New York, 1952.
