Abstract
The wooden statues were overpainted only once during the Baroque time. Tool marks and preparation technique analysed. The overpaint was removed with a solvent cream, flux, from burnished gilding, while from green lustre it had to be done mechanically. Flaking paint was fixed with PVA and beeswax as in an earlier restoration.
