Abstract
Chalking in paints containing TiO<sub>2</sub> is postulated to be caused by radicals generated by the combination of TiO<sub>2</sub> particles, UV light and water. The radicals are responsible for oxidizing the paint film. The basis for making the postulate is presented. -- AATA
