Abstract
On the occasion of the Mona Lisa exhibition, conditions requested were that lighting should not cause any temperature rise, that ultraviolet filters should be installed, and that the intensity of illumination should be kept under 200 lux. An examination was made of fluorescent lamps currently on sale with ultraviolet rays excluded labels, and a lamp with an ultraviolet absorber coated on its inner surface was selected. In order to make up the deficiency in intensity of deep red light which is one of the disadvantages of fluorescent lamps, an incandescent lamp was used as a supplementary lamp. The heat emitted by the incandescent lamp was eliminated by an interference glass filter. -- AATA
