The new Super Beta video format is estimated to give at least 20% improvement in resolution at any speed. It does so shifting up the carrier frequency to 800 KH2, thus providing a broader bandwidth for luminance. That and a narrower head gap result in 20% improvement in resolution from 240 lines horizontally to 300 (minimum).
