Abstract
An oak tree-ring chronology of over 7,000 years has been completed using timbers from the British Isles. Nearly 1,000 timbers, mostly from the north of Ireland, were combined into the chronology which for most of its length has a replication of between 10 and 20 trees. The chronology forms a standard for calibration of the radiocarbon timescale.
