Abstract
Chinese looms evolved from the original breast loom into the inclined, multi-heddle, treadle, and the draw looms. Draw looms are designed to weave either small or large patterns, depending on the interaction of the draw strings and the ear threads. Modern jacquards are derived from the draw loom, incorporating both Chinese and French inventions. Other looms historically used in China include the k'esi and the bamboo cage looms, both used for weaving complex figures.
