Abstract
Handbook produced by a working party of the European Federation of corrosion with the objectives of providing instructions for completion of experiments by those with little previous specialist experience of general corrosion processes. It also provides explanations of the significance of the experimental results. Part one gives some introductory information, basic aspects of the theory of corrosion cells and general techniques for measuring corrosion; part two supplies details on experiments, corrosion cells potential measurement, anodic and cathodic reactions in corrosion cells, crevices and differential aeration, pitting corrosion, active passive transitions, fluid flow and corrosion, heat affected zones, environmental embrittlement and stress corrosion cracking and metal gas reactions; and part three reviews experiments illustrating protection methods: corrosion inhibitors, electrochemical protection, inorganic and organic coatings.
