Abstract
Dyes were analyzed by thin-layer chromatography. Analytical procedures for red, yellow, and blue dyestuffs are given. Sampling is described. 45 tapestries were analyzed. Dyes used were madder, cochineal, brazilwood, redwood, weld, young fustic, dyer's brown, indigo or woad, red spot (unidentifiable red) and archil. (?) Numerous mixtures of some of these dyes were found.
