Abstract
Several factors are considered for evaluating polishes and waxes for furniture and other wooden objects. The problems with aerosols, waterbased liquid polishes, and drying or non-drying oil-based polishes are discussed. Semisolid polishes, or paste waxes are the most benign, but they are also the most difficult to apply. A simple test for possible adverse effects is suggested.
