The United Nations Development Program (UNDP), which involves the development and preservation of cultural and natural patrimony in developing countries, particularly those in Latin America and the Caribbean, is briefly described. The successes of the program's initiatives in countries, such as Costa Rica, serve as a model of how collaborative efforts between developed and less developed countries can prove beneficial in adderssing cultural and environmental issues of mutual concern.
