The behavior of products for the consolidation of stone should be controlled by analytical techniques. The use of the polarizing microscope and the scanning electron microscope is recommended. The use of these analytical techniques is demonstrated by the filling of the pores of sandstone with waterglass, ethyl-silicate and polymethylmethacrylate. -- AATA
