Abstract
In a thorough study of the chemical composition of 21 Renaissance lime plasters, it was found that these fell into 2 categories. One group contained quartz and CaCO3 only, while the other group also contained MgCO3 and Mg(OH)2. None of the samples contained more than small amounts of Ca(OH)2, either crystalline or amorphous. -- AATA
