Abstract
This paper proposes the conservation and restoration potential of fire-damaged paintings. Three case studies outline the restoration procedures evolved for dealing with the multi-faceted problems in paintings with this type of damage. The treatments include color recovery of darkened paint films, restoration of blistered paint films, and the use of the expanded solubility system based on the TEAS tri-chart.
