Since its opening in 1929, two additions have been made to the Stadtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus (1972 and 1984). These buildings were equipped with various heating systems with whose insidiousness one had to battle daily. As part of the renovation of the five historic rooms on the upper floor of the former residence building in 1996, it was decided to install a tempering system combined with evaporative humidifiers. Because the wall coverings were to be redone during the renovation work, the possibility of installing the tempering pipes underneath the wall plaster of the outside walls presented itself. Only in one room, where removing the valuable wall paneling was not possible, the installation was reduced to tubes in the niche in combination with a small radiator. In all rooms evaporative humidifiers were installed in the niches where the radiators were previously located. The humidifiers are equipped with a special housing and a leak warning system. The result is very satisfactory.
