Abstract
The usual method for dry-preserving plants using a large laboratory press takes about fifteen days. It is known that the procedure may be significantly speeded up by using a press modified to incorporate a heating element. The Croatian Natural History Museum has constructed a press which reduces the time needed for dry preservation of plants to no more than a few hours. Advantages include retention of the natural shape and colour of most plant specimens as well as time savings.
