Abstract
The life cycle of the beetle attagenus smirnovi zhani (dermestidae) has been extensively studied. The beetle is African in origin but as been reported in Great Britain, Denmark and USSR. Where libraries have provided a suitable environment for propagation. The preferred conditions are 19 to 34 C. And relative humidity below 55%. The larvae prefer pure cellulose paper (mica tape, condenser paper) and paper containing flour past, and avoid coated papers. The preferred food of the beetle is thick, fleecy woollen materials. Since this is also preferred for egg laying, it can be used to make insect traps.
