Abstract
The Kois smelt iron from a local ore in small clay flues. The flues are about 30 in. high and 4-5 in. in diameter, with two holes in the bae for ventilation and letting out the slag. A wicker stage at the top holds the mixture of ore and charcoal to feed in during the smelting process. Bellows and procedure are described. -- AATA
