Abstract
It often comes as a surprise to people to learn that, by 1000 BC, there existed in the British Isles a group of craftsmen capable of turning our bronze castings of a quality not far short of those of the modern workshop. It is intended here to examine what is known of the early bronze-smiths and their methods, and especially to have a look at the tools of their trade and the work they produced.
