Permeability of resin coatings to water vapor is discussed in terms of composition and molecular structure of the coating material, as well as in relation to the effects of relative humidity and temperature. The resins studied are clear phenolic and alkyd coatings. A general description of the theory of permeation is presented. See also 8-1842. -- AATA
