Abstract
The McCord Museum of Canadian History has presented numerous exhibitions of First Nations’ culture and history over the last 20 years, and has been at the forefront in establishing collaborative partnerships with Aboriginal groups and individuals. These exhibitions have played an important part in the ongoing discussion in Canada and internationally about the way cultural institutions manage, research, promote, and display Aboriginal material culture. Recently, the McCord mounted three exhibitions that investigated various aspects of Aboriginal art and history. This article discusses the content and the collaborative nature of the three exhibitions, and the impact these had on the conservation of the objects.
