The Great Wall of China, one of the wonders of the world, was the outcome of armed struggles between nationalities in history. Thousands of peasants were conscripted to build the Great Wall, few of whom came home healthy or even lived. Now, with the birth of New China, the Great Wall, which was made up of the sweat and blood and the toil and moil of innumerable peasants, is being transformed into a monument in honor of the new era, symbolizing the solidarity and brotherhood of all nationalities in the country. In recent years, the work of restoring and repairing the Great Wall at key points has begun with the enthusiastic support and generous contributions of many Chinese people as well as foreign friends. A Great Wall Museum was also constructed recently on the spot where people used to visit.
