Discussions on the precise relationship between bronzes and ceramics during all times from A.D. 1100 to 1900 is impossible within the scope of one paper. The very quantity of comparative material makes this task much more difficult than that of assessing similar relationships during the Neolithic and Bronze Ages. However, taking into account evidence supplied by the artifacts themselves, allowing for extra stimulus produced through the advent of the printed book and through wider cultural diffusion, and relying on clues supplied by economic history, we can see that stylistic developments and patterns of use were linked. Study of particular examples shows that bronzes influenced the form and decoration of ceramic. To a lesser degree, painted and incised designs on pottery were re-transmitted to bronze.
