The art treasures in museums, the documents in archives and the numerous monuments in The Netherlands are being threatened by insidious decay as a result of polluted air, excessive light, temperature fluctuations, mildew and insects. The government of The Netherlands therefore has decided to tackle this problem. It is doing so by means of a massive rescue operation : The Delta Plan for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage .
