Documentation, object density and storage space, climate control, risk management, security, and other issues pertaining to collection conservation and stewardship were evaluated for a broad range of collection-holding institutions. The results not only offered insights into administrative elements that determined good care vs. neglect, but also revealed underlying concerns regarding overcrowding, environmental conditions, and financial constraints. In addition, clear indications of several trends affecting the physical status of collections emerged from the data gathered.
