Abstract
At normal temperatures methyl bromide is a colorless liquid under pressure. With release of pressure it rapidly vaporizes and in high concentration has a chloroform-like odor. Contact of the liquid with the skin or eyes produces burns similar to thermal burns. Inhalation can cause serious poisoning or may be fatal. Methyl bromide is classified by the U.S. Department of Transportation as a Poisonous Liquid, class B. The full text of this data sheet should be consulted for details of the hazards of methyl bromide and for suggestions for their control.
