The results of an historical and a technical study, as well as the diagnosis and treatment proposals for the amulets collection from the Museo de Artes y Tradiciones Populares of the Universidad Aut6noma de Madrid are presented. The work was carried out after the process of transferring the collection, instance that was considered as an opportunity for checking the conservation condition of every single piece. Their symbolic and historic value is reported, justifying the importance of protecting the collection for the benefit of future generations. The Museo de Artes y Tradiciones Populares collection is described, consisting of sixty six amulets which materials and technical features are detailed, and subsequently their conservation state is diagnosed. Suggestions and conservation proposals as storage and mounting issues are given. It is also expected that whenever possible, these last could be applied to other collections with similar characteristics.
