Abstract
The CBC relining (canvas, backing of aluminum, canvas) is nothing more than a laminated support for a painting. It consists of linen-aluminum-linen layers. Or, it can be regarded as a conventional wax-resin relining on linen backed by a thin sheet of aluminum and further backed by an additional linen layer, all bonded with wax-resin employing the usual hot-table and vacuum process. In itself, it does not appear particularly noteworthy, but the important advantages of this technique become apparent. They are discussed below.
