The provisions for VT-MAS extends the range of applications of CPMAS NMR to a broad spectrum of chemical areas including reactive species, unstable systems, and mechanisms of molecular reorientation. The initial results of variable-temperature CPMAS13C NMR studies have demonstrated considerable potential for elucidating structure and dynamics in the solid state.
