Abstract
Studies environmental parameters and their impact on various properties and materials in a painting – mechanical stability, elasticity, effects of RH and temperature, and behavior on a fixed support. The author investigated 8 painting techniques on a fixed support, using specially prepared samples: linen canvas; primed linen canvas; glue painting on canvas; oil paint on canvas; oil paint with craquelure on canvas; wax painting on canvas; glue painting on Canson (Montval) paper; oil painting on primed paper. The findings are given in a series of graphs and tables, and three groups are identified according to their reaction to low, medium and high relative humidity.
