Abstract
The purpose of the chromatic study of the historical centre of Cartagena is to develop some guidelines based on historical criteria to control the rehabilitation processes in historical cities in order to avoid subjective interventions that might result in the distortion of the urban scene from the introduction of contemporary aesthetic criteria. one of the conclusion taken from these studies is that there is a link between a specific architectonic typology and the chromatic variety applied to it. This relation is a direct result of the logic that links architectural work with the period it is built in, the aesthetic philosophies contemporary to the construction, the technologies used in construction procedures and also with the preferences of those people involved in these processes.
