A description of the architecture of palaces and dwelling places during the Ottoman period in Algiers is presented. The first part examines palaces in town and houses of the Kasbah: the plans, rooms, and materials. The second part considers the summer residences in the suburbs of Algiers, describing plans, rooms and materials; and the final part provides conclusions on traditional habitat in Algiers: their diversity, the residences of people with different artisanal jobs, their way of life, the compositions of the population of Algiers in the 18th and 19th centuries, and the costumes and decoration of the Ottoman period and after.
