The monastery and the church of the Holy Trinity at Sopocani, founded in the 13th century, have been partially destroyed and modified several times. The restoration of the church was based on archaeological data on its original appearance. The parts restored in 1926 were demolished because of the poor quality of replacement materials and of cracks in the cupola. Construction of an on-site museum is planned. On display will be numerous architectural and decorative elements discovered during the excavations carried out within the perimeter of the monastery wall. -- AATA
