Presents a general report on the nine communications (abstracted separately) included in the section Practical redesign method , and enounces three principles and three requirements to be followed during intervention on historic buildings after earthquake damage: analysis of their technology and structural feature in reference to their original cultural context; the possible collapse mechanisms set in motion by the earthquake must be investigated taking in account the actual connections; seismic resistance will be achieved by restoring the original technique which, in the most cases, are seismic resistant, and if necessary by adding new elements consistent with the original construction technique. -- ICCROM
