Abstract
Presents and discusses the results of a metallurgical examination on 21 Egyptian tools and weapons. One war axe was examined, the remainder was either arsenical copper or bronze. Most were examined on a taper section polished at the cutting edge. A group of arsenical copper axes of similar style had all been worked and annealed a number of times with a final cold working to give a hard cutting edge. There are three plates of metallographic sections including scanning electron microscopy (SEM) photographs and qualitative analysis of inclusions.
