Abstract
The tempera painting to be treated is fragile, in poor shape and mounted on an oak panel. Backing it by heat sealing vis-a-vis wheat paste and Japanese paper is discussed. The latter method is chosen and described. The backed painting is mounted on a wooden core with layers of Japanese paper in the traditional Japanese manner.
