Abstract
The technique of raising visual efficiency for displays at low illumination levels by sound environmental design. The importance of using daylight, fluorescent and tungsten point sources together. Dark environments do not help conservation and have troublesome side effects. Problems with high iron glass, pictures, tapestries, fabrics, marble and wood. The need to subsume function and contrivance into architectural wholeness.
