Abstract
The potential hazards in paint removal are reviewed. Absorption of lead from old paint occurs by swallowing dust containing lead or by breathing the dust. Symptoms are noted, but the main treatment is avoidance of exposure. The electric heat blower manufactured by Master Appliance (the HG-501) is recommended for paint removal, but a respirator should still be used. Scrapings must be completely removed from the site. A table for the comparative safety ratings of paint removal methods is included. -- AATA
