Abstract
This third volume in a three volume catalogue of the complete collection of the Calico Museum (Ahmedabad, India) is devoted to pigment paintings on cloth. The majority (98 pieces) are temple hangings of the Vallabhacharya Sampradaya sect. That section of the catalogue is accompanied by an essay on the materials and techniques of the pieces. Painted cloths of the Jain sect, Phadas and Panchangas (astrological calendars) from Rajasthan, Patachitras (picture cloths) from Orissa, and three Nepalese paintings on cloth are also catalogued. Each entry provides bibliography and lists fabric type, date, dimensions, and colors. Every piece is illustrated. See also 20542. -- AATA
