Abstract
Relationship between fiber friction and other fiber characteristics and the response of fibers having different levels of friction to processes like opening, carding and drawing have been studied using 17 cottons, varying widely in fiber characteristics, and three groups of cottons in untreated and treated conditions. It is observed that fiber length, fineness and strength are significantly correlated with fiber friction. The coefficiency of friction of cotton increases from blow room to carding and then decreases progressively with further processing. -- AATA
