There follow chapters discussing in some detail the developmental history, and on a basic level, the scientific concepts and technology of numerous archaeological dating methods. Included are dendrochronology, carbon 14, potassium-argon, rubidium-strontium, protactinium-thorium, fluorine, oxygen isotope, fission track, obsidian, thermoluminescence, grain and corn analysis, trace element analysis, and neutron activation analysis.
