Abstract

Of 35 amber artifacts, 31 were found to be of Baltic amber (succinite) by IR spectroscopy. This refutes the view of some Yugoslav archaeologists that all ancient amber finds in that country are of local origin and reopens the question of the role of the Eastern Adriatic in the amber trade to Greece. -- AATA
