Abstract
This paper describes experiments with the use of a suction table in photographic conservation. Four photographs were treated, two degraded crayon portraits, a silver gelatin photostat, and a photomechanical print. The suction table was used to remove lining from the crayon portraits and for further cleaning. New lining were then added. The table was also used to line the silver-gelatin photostat. A Gore-tex lining was added to the photomechanical print. The suction table is especially valuable when the object to be treated is severely fragmented or cannot withstand wet treatment.
