Abstract
The author describes methods of using heat set tissue and dry mount resin for different purposes. He gives criteria for choosing a heat set tissue resin. It should not embrittle nor change color, nor contain any substance which harms paper. It should have an acceptable pH and remain soluble. The author tested 3 heat set tissue/dry mount resin formulae; Rhoplex AC-634, AC-73 and Texicryl 13-002; all with water. The resins were applied to paper and to Mylar and heat aged. The following tests were carried out; folding endurance, reflectance, color, pH and solubility and results are given. AC-643/H20 performed best under reflectance and color evaluation. Texicryl 13-002/H20 performed far below the other resins.
