Abstract
60,000 books were wetted by fire extinguishers during a fire in a library of Philadelphia. The midsummer temperatures stimulated the growth of fungus. The books were disinfected according to the methodical instruction by special restorers, packed carefully by volunteer assistants and transported to a freezer.
