Abstract
The Red Bay project is a co-operative undertaking between the province of Newfoundland, Labrador, and Parks, Canada. It involves the archaeological investigation of the submerged remains of a wooden vessel and an extensive land site excavation of a Basque whaling station. This paper gives a brief summary of Basque whaling in Labrador and a review of the results of three years of archaeological research in Red Bay, Labrador. (See also AATA 21-410)
