Abstract
Reference is made to a recent article (See AATA 9-632.) which advocates the use of 'Ferromede' dewatering fluids in the conservation of waterlogged wood and leather. The authors are firmly of the opinion that the use of the preparation in question in the conservation of wood, is not in any way effective and results in an end product as poor as that obtained merely by air-drying. Experiments are detailed and the tabulated results support their contention.
