Abstract
The author describes how deep-seated cuprous chloride is responsible for the outbreak of bronze disease under certain museum conditions and why earlier treatments have failed. The object of the treatment described is to expose the cuprous chloride and to form a self-healing seal of hornsilver over it without introducing foreign ions. The disease spots are excavated and salt free silver oxide is rubbed on to the underlying cuprous chloride.
